Hi there,
Is there a way to, like with other solutions, scan for all the executable files on the host and capture the vendor and application names?
From what I can see, if I want to scan for executable files I have to define each of them manually on the console.
Thanks.

Re: Inventory all Exe files?
You can use wildcards like c:\*.exe in the file scan section to detect any executable including file header information.

Re: Inventory all Exe files?
Hi Hendrik,
It worked fine. I can see the file list and versions. But, is it possible to make it create Software entries for each executable?
Also, do you know if the captured filescan info can be used with the compliance tool to, for example, detect portable software that requires a license?
Thanks.

Re: Inventory all Exe files?
For both you need to create entries for each exe with corresponding software products that shall be added to the inventory result. See the moorhuhn example.

Re: Inventory all Exe files?
Hi Hendrik,
I added a rule for the particular executable, and while I can see the file under "FileScan", it does not list the software under "Software".
Any idea why?
Thanks

Re: Inventory all Exe files?
Can you post a screenshot of the definition?
Try to remove the file size if set.
Same for checksum.

...also make sure filescan buffering is activated:
http://helpfiles.matrix42-web.de/2015_E ... light=File scan buffering
And just enter the EXE name (e.g. "winword.exe"), no path!
